I Can Explain

So, if you haven't noticed yet, I haven't posted in just about a month on here. Isn't that just terrible??? I've been a terrible blogger! I mean, I guess I could say I've been busy with school work and I picked up the Harry Potter books for the first time in forever (yes, I know. I am ashamed of this fact) and those are the reasons why I haven't been blogging, but I still feel bad anyway. I love blogging!

Anyway, hopefully that'll change because I want to go back to blogging whether it kills me or not. I miss talking with all you book and twitter friends! Hopefully soon my blog will be busy with posts and memes.

Across the Universe by Beth Revis. Originally, I wasn't even going to bother reading it! I just wasn't into the premise for it at first.

Hidden gem book:
Illuminate by Aimee Agresti. Seriously, I love this book and I feel like no one has read or heard of it.

Important moment of your reading life:
Going to my first ever book event. And this was a little before I started blogging. I went to the Breathless Reads event with Jessica Spotswood, Andrea Cremer, Marie Lu, and Beth Revis on the panel and it was such a surreal thing for me, to see the faces of the authors who write these amazing books and realize that they're human, too. Without this event, I don't think I would have created my blog.

Just finished:
City of Bones by Cassandra Clare.

Umm, I'm not really into rereading books, though I feel like I should do that more often. I did read Twilight and Breaking Dawn a whopping five times, though, when I thought they the best books out there, and then New Moon two times and Eclipse three times. And now I just started rereading The Mortal Instruments. Other than that, I don't reread books.

Preferred place to read:
Anywhere comfy and near food. That could be my bed, couch, car seat. As long as I'm equipped with a book, seat, and food, I'm good.

I totally had to search through quotes of my favorite books (I'm terrible at remembering my favorite quotes) and this one stood out to me.  I remember reading this and actually feeling it. I've dealt with high anxiety and mild depression for years and there are times where things are just dumpy. So instead of thinking that things will never get better, it's a good idea to hold on to hope and not giving up.

Reading regret:
Hmmm...buying Tiger's Curse by Colleen Houck. Because now that I spent the money on the book, I have to finish the series and have them all on my shelf.

I still haven't read the last book of the Delirium series by Lauren Oliver, same goes for that Halo series by Alexandra Adornetto, the Rift duology by Andrea Cremer, the Darkness Rising series by Kelley Armstrong, and I'm sure there's others. And I haven't read the last two books of the Graceling Realm series by Kristin Cashore.

I seriously need to get on top of these things.

Can I put an entire series as one? I think I will. Number One would be The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare, The Diviners by Libba Bray, and The Girl in the Clockwork Collar by Kady Cross.

Buying books. I admit it is both a gift and a curse to buy books. It's a gift for obvious reasons. YAY BOOKS GALORE. But it's a curse because there are times where I cannot buy every book on the shelf because I do not have that kind of money.

Yeah! You heard right! It's been a crazy few months for me and it's such a travesty that my blog had to suffer from it. There's been some bumps in the road, loads of stress, and then an amazing getaway to Europe.  All in all, it's been a whirlwind of an adventure for me and I'm glad that I now am back to my blog!

TV Series Goals and Why BBC Is Ruining My Life

If any of you don't know, I have a fandom blog on Tumblr, and I spend a lot of time on there reblogging many bookish things and non-bookish things.  This includes British television series.  And I don't even watch these shows, but after seeing a whole bunch of praise and love for them, I'm very curious about what they're all about.

As part of reaching my goal, I've begun to watch this series, starting with Nine (the Ninth Doctor).  I believe I'm only 10 episodes in, but I love it!  Maybe it's the accents, but there's all these alien-ness and space adventure and time travel aspects that just make it so interesting. 

And once I finish watching the rest of the series (there are 83 episodes in all), I plan on watching:

Okay, so Supernatural isn't BBC, but I still want to watch it.  The show is about these two brothers, the Winchesters, that work together to beat dark forces, and this show is also very weird.  I've only seen two episodes (that were on TV and not from the beginning), but I'd still like to watch it.

And this brings me to this series.

This show is BBC and is about Sherlock Holmes and John Watson.  Besides the fact that I'm a huge Sherlock fan in general, Benedict Cumberbatch, I hear, plays a perfect and quirky Sherlock.  Also, Martin Freeman is in it.  Of course I'm going to watch it.

And let's not forget

Come on.  Look how cute he is!  This BBC show is about Merlin and Prince Arthur and other than that, I don't know much, but it's still on my To-Watch List.

A Post of Feels

It's been a while since I've posted anything here on the blog, and for that, I am deeply sorry.  Being away from my baby is kinda tearing me up to pieces.  It really isn't a good feeling.  At.  All.  It's been really busy in my life and there's barely been enough time to read and review.  Sad face. 

But in my absence, a lot of things have been revealed and all!  And that makes me super happy.  While I may not be on the internet much, I still find ways to keep myself connected, even if the news is a little delayed.

So now it's time for me to talk about the Feels.

First: There will never be another Twilight movie.  The thought really hasn't been as profound as it was for the Harry Potter movies, but there was still a twinge.  Mostly, that is because the Twilight movies were cheesy and the only casting role I agree with is Taylor Lautner as Jacob. (I love you, Jacob baby!)  But, there's still this nostalgic feeling I'm getting and I think it has to do with the fact that the Twilight series was what really got me interested in reading.  Of course I'm going to see the movie in theaters and possibly bawl my eyes out at the end because I lost Jacob to Renesmee.

So just think about it.  There will never be another Twilight movie.  Let that sink in.

Second: MY SWEET GOODNESS!  THE CITY OF BONES TEASER TRAILER!

Was I super excited to watch this trailer? Hells yes!  I mean, I'm still kind of reluctant to watch the movie because Jamie Campbell Bower looks like the druggie version of Jace.  I do not find him very attractive, either.  However, I am not familiar with his acting abilities, so I will give him a chance. 

But this is about the trailer here.  First I was like:

I'm sure I've felt some other Feels recently, but those are the main ones that come to mind.  Obviously, I couldn't vent any of these Feels to le family or friends because they are no fellow fandom members, but I'm sure some of these Feels pertain to some of you out there.  Man, it feels really good to get that all off my chest.  Whew.

I'M ALIVE!!!

I feel that this gif accurately depicts how happy and thankful I am that things turned out relatively okay here.  My cat (incidentally, her name is Sandy) wreaked havoc upon the coast and luckily, my house was left pretty unscathed, besides a monster tree that fell in my backyard.  And even though my all the streets to my house flooded, my home didn't flood.  Unfortunately, my cat took out the power for about a day and a half, but then also took out my cable so I had no WiFi, which then led to no WoW post this week or the discussion post I was planning on, or any reviews whatsoever.

But I have internet now! (as in I just got it back today!)  And this all makes me very, very, very happy.  Hence the flailing.  So, everybody, be prepared for lots of reviews!  There will be many.

My Sorry Post. Sadness. And a Thank You, too.

Sorry I've been absent from the blog lately!  You have no idea how bad I feel for abandoning it for as long as I have.  Especially over the summer with all of the free time I've had, I've been really busy on the blog and reading.  I feel like this blog is my long lost brother and we've been doing a lot of connecting lately. 

Life has been pretty busy, especially now that school will be starting up again this fall, so it's time to finish up all of that summer work, right? (after some tweeting, of course)  ((okay, after hours worth of tweeting)) It's kind of ridiculous the amount of work I didn't realize I needed to do.  Humphh. 

But that is no excuse, right? Right.  I haven't posted on here ever since Wednesday and that was just to post my Waiting on Wednesday that only takes about five minutes to write up and post, and I'm pretty sure I scheduled that one too, so I wasn't even on the blog Wednesday!  What a disaster!  For shame....tsk, tsk.  The patronizing chastisements go on forever.

But this is not the only reason why I am writing this post.  There is a brighter side to this, after all.  I don't know about you, but have you seen my Six Month Blogoversary?  The turnout for it has been absolutely fabulous!  I cannot thank you guys enough.  And all of the new followers on here!  There are seventy of you now!  You guys have no idea how happy you guys have made me!  And this is the part where I thank you all . . . So thank you!

But now I'm on a mission because I have to be a good blogger now.

Earlier this year, I was persuaded into reading the Shade series by Jeri Smith-Ready.  So far--because of my small town library--I've only read the first book, which makes me kind of sad.  I loved the first book, and I would really love to read what will happen next.

The Importance of Books in My Life

Okay, so I don't want to make this all big and personal and all about me, me, me, but I want to get a point across.  And I'm sure I'm not the only person who's dealt with this.There will be those people who just aren't into books.  I get that because my sister, my twin, absolutely hates them and only very rarely will she ever pick one up.  And the occasion is even rarer if she actually finishes it.  I don't take it personally, though, and I don't expect people to go jumping over boulders and such just to read a book.  If you do, great.  But, I don't want to or mean to force people into reading it.  That's up for them to decide.
But then there are those people who throw the fact that you actually read for fun in your face.  Earlier this year, I was pretty much verbally assaulted by this one boy.  He thought reading was lame and said a whole bunch of things to offend me.  At the time, I did take it personally and was completely red with anger.  How could he say such a thing to me?  I never forced him into reading anything he didn't want to.  I never rubbed it in his face that I read a whole lot for fun.  It just didn't make sense to me how he could be so cruel to me.  What did I ever do to him?
But, I realized that I was wrong for thinking that way.  There really was no reason for me to be offended by his words.  I guess in a way that this was a type of bullying, but why would it matter to me?  I live my own world and I do whatever I please to because that's what I love to do.  And for me, that happens to be reading.  I love to read.
I guess what I'm trying to say here is that what people say shouldn't effect what you do.  I don't know if this has happened to other people out there in the book-bloggingsphere, but this has been bothering me for a while.  People shouldn't have to be self-conscious about what they do.  Since I like reading, I'll read all the books I want and nobody has a say in it.  My love for books is stronger than the influence of the people around me.  I've got a few of my friends and my blogging buddies on Twitter to gush about books with.  And that's all the encouragement I need to read some more.

In Which I Show You What I Find to be Inspirational and The Hunger Games and Other Stuff

Okay, so I haven't been able to read anything AT ALL since I've been busy with the usual and the fact that most of the books that I want to get come out in the next month or two.(Not Rachel Hawkin's Spellbound, though!  It comes out NEXT WEEK!  Squee!)  Anyway, although I have no review for a book, I thought I might as well post something.  And that something happens to be pictures and the Hunger Games.First off: Pictures that inspire me.

And now for some Hunger Games talk.

I recently read the books over the summer for my summer reading.  As you know, I'm not a big dystopian fan, but everybody kept telling me how awesome it was.  So, I borrowed it from a friend and read all three of them in about three days' time.  They were just that awesome.  And as most of you all know, The Hunger Games is going to be a movie.  (It's coming out this month!)  So excited.  But then, I came across this:

Yes, this is indeed The Hunger Games nail polish.  I want it sooo bad!  Just look at all those colors!  I'm absolutely in love with Smoke and Ashes and Luxe and Lush.  But then, I did a little more research of HG memorabilia and found an entire etsy store dedicated to The Hunger Games.  Check it out. 

And here's another thing to check out.  This is a book called Croak written by Gina Damico.  Lookie!  It's absolutley hilarious!  Plus, I cannot wait for this book to come out!  Not only does it look awesome, but I read the synopsis for it, and it sounds like a great read.

Sixteen-year-old Lex Bartleby has sucker-punched her last classmate. Fed up with her punkish, wild behavior, her parents ship her off to upstate New York to live with her Uncle Mort for the summer, hoping that a few months of dirty farm work will whip her back into shape.  And guess what?  It comes out this March 20th!  Like I said earlier, all the books I want to read have yet to come out.  What is this madness?  As a sidenote, I have to say, being a book lover gives you great patience.  Lots and lots of it.

Another book that I'm having a hard time waiting for would be The Girl in the Clockwork Collar by Kady Cross.  If you have not read the first book(The Girl in the Steel Corset), I suggest you do.  It's steampunk awesomeness at its best.  Also, Rift by Andrea Cremer.  That looks--I know it's just going to be amazing.
