It all began with a ruined elixir and an accidental bolt of lightning…
Iolanthe Seabourne is the greatest elemental mage of her generation—or so she's being told. The one prophesied for years to be the savior of The Realm. It is her duty and destiny to face and defeat the Bane, the greatest mage tyrant the world has ever known. A suicide task for anyone let alone a sixteen-year-old girl with no training, facing a prophecy that foretells a fiery clash to the death.
Prince Titus of Elberon has sworn to protect Iolanthe at all costs but he's also a powerful mage committed to obliterating the Bane to revenge the death of his family—even if he must sacrifice both Iolanthe and himself to achieve his goal.
But Titus makes the terrifying mistake of falling in love with the girl who should have been only a means to an end. Now, with the servants of the Bane closing in, he must choose between his mission and her life.
For those of you who do not know me that well, I am a huuuuuggee sucker for fantasy. Huge. And I find that fantasy in YA isn't as big of a genre as I'd like it to be. I feel as if there's so much YA contemporary and YA paranormal, but I feel as if an author and the YA community itself would do itself justice if there were more fantasy books. There's so many different directions an author could go in with fantasy and there wouldn't be as many burnt-out ideas like love triangles and vampires.
But besides that, I have been drooling over this book specifically ever since I saw it revealed at Tea Time. I mean--LOOK AT THAT COVER! And the premise sounds epic! I cannot WAIT for this book!
So what is everyone else waiting on this fine Wednesday?
I really liked The Burning Sky, it was so unique and different to any fantasy that I've ever read!

It looks good, and I so agree about YA fantasy , needs to be a lot more! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteNew follower BTW.
The cover is simply epic and I love the premise! I can't wait to learn more about that world and I agree, there's a lot of paranormal or urban fantasy but not that much high fantasy in YA. Great pick :)
